Have you ever noticed how certain things are accepted simply because, "That's just the way it is?" Or, how oft-used expressions are called upon to justify or explain our opinions, and even beliefs?
Now, be assured, I'm not saying that's an inappropriate way to view all the activities we confront in life, but... If you ever find yourself questioning why things happen as they do, then I'm right there with you.
Examples? Sure. I mean, how about...
I have never actually seen a cow in a kitchen, and yet, I know they make pies.
I don't believe rabbits shoot high-powered bullets, but I do know they eject pellets.
I've never actually seen a cat throw a candy wrapper on the ground, and yet I understand there is cat litter.
I've never looked up in the sky and marveled as a flock of horses flew past, and yet I have seen one horsefly.
I've never seen a snake o' stone or a gator o' wood, but I have listened to many croc's o' shit.
I've tried carrots, sirloin steak, tofu and ice cream sodas, but I still believe vodka is the true "food for thought."
I've never actually investigated the scene of an accident, but I have seen skid marks.
I've counted several sheep jumping over a fence, and yet still prefer Ambien.
I've never actually seen whale shit, but I believe that's the lowest thing there is.
I believe clams shave everyday, because I've seen so few bearded ones.
I realize it's difficult to teach an old dog new tricks, but then teaching a young dog to sit, roll over and poop outside is no bargain, either.
I don't think giraffes are inherently lazy, but I do believe they go after the high-hanging fruit.
I've never seen a hyena enjoy good friendship, and yet I'm told they laugh easily.
I've never actually seen any "dead ringers," but, I have met several people who look just like them.
I could probably offer a few more, but, I think you see what I'm trying to express.
Oh... And here's one final truth that goes well beyond questioning...
"The United States of America is the Greatest Country on Earth."
And, even though we have an election coming up, which seems intent on dividing us, please be assured:
We have been thrown a lot of lemons in our day, and yet, nobody has ever beaten The USA for the quality of our lemonade.
How about that?
